The first wedding of the year is much like the first of anything for the year. It seems to set the tone for the year and sets things into motion. With Patrick & Rachel's wedding being my very first wedding of 2021, I couldn't have asked for a better start!

As always, I started the wedding day by photographing the details. Rachel had prepared everything before hand, by placing every item together in a box. So when I arrived, with bridal hair and makeup fully under way, Rachel's maid of honor was able to quickly pass the items off to me without digging through boxes and bags to find each piece. This is exactly what I recommend each of my clients to do, to start the wedding day off on the right foot.

Now speaking of details, Rachel did a phenomenal job picking hers. Sentimental heirlooms, like her grandfather's handkerchief and her grandmother's cross, were beautifully paired with Rachel's own accessories like her perfume bottle and fur muffler. Her dress had layer upon layer of lace, and her cathedral-length veil complemented it perfectly, with it's lace-lined edges. Not forgetting the groom's details, Patrick was prepared with a full suit ensemble, a pocket square, his grandfather's wedding ring and custom engraved cuff links.

The details didn't stop at accessories or apparel, though. Patrick and Rachel have incredibly taste in photography and with great foresight, picked the location in their church for getting ready photos. It was a beautifully lit hallway with a stunning black-framed window at the end. The arch shaped window was mirrored throughout their day, from the courtyard to the sanctuary, and from the ceremony to the portraits. The arches, in a way, became the motif of Patrick & Rachel's romantic wedding.

Every part of their day was such an inspiration to me, and the creativity was freshly picked. I don't think I can pick a favorite image from Patrick & Rachel's wedding! Although I do give special attention to the photos of the couple's precious moments under the veil! Many grooms have little interest in getting under the veil, but as soon as I mentioned the idea, it wasn't just Rachel who jumped at the chance! Patrick gladly cuddled up with his new bride as I put the veil over their heads and peeked through the layers with my camera. The resulting images are absolutely breathtaking, and Patrick get's a huge part of the credit!

All in all, Patrick & Rachel's wedding day was a perfect celebration of love and family - cherishing the things that are sacred and transcendent.

Patrick & Rachel, congratulations on your your marriage! I hope your new life together is as blessed as your wedding day.
